25 Sign Film
Posted in equipment on 08/24/2011 07:44 am by admin& I work full time. I finally decided to go to school for photography. I'm a photographer and director of a studio (JCPenney) I have a great talent and I love what I do .. school, I want to go to school in New England, photography in Boston. It is a 2-year cert. Programme & tutition is $ 17 000 yr. I applied for federal grants and Stafford loans. I been approved for $ 11 000 in total. The problem is that I still have to make up the difference + I still need to supply cameras, film, paper, etc. .. laptop ($ 7,500), plus a monthly T pass for the train @ $ 223. As a single mother I do not have that kind of money. I do not and better credit and any type of loan would require a co-signer. I do not have any family who can sign for me and I feel that my dreams begin to collapse. I do not know what I can do. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm listening .... Thank you
A degree still looks good on a resume when applying for jobs, but consider this. Many really great photographers never went to school photos - Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Annie Leibowitz. They were self-taught. I am also mostly self-taught. I am in some classes of photos to my local junior college. It turns out they have a very good program and the state of Florida pays for most of my costs with the exception of equipment and supplies many sure. I have long considered whether taking classes would be my time or not. I learned a lot, of course. But most of the bases I learned to read and experiment a lot. I started weddings and portraits shooting before I even went to school. I guess it depends on what you do as a photographer. You must decide if the investment to go to school is the best way to get into being a professional. I was reading an article in the District New photos on "New Photographers" or some something like that recently. Most of them graduated from the art or photography program, but they did not really their big break up they were in their late 20s to mid-30. Think about your long term goals and decide which short-term goals are necessary and achievable now. This is just my opinion, but I hope it helps.
