Any ideas how to get better at Final Cut Pro editing software?

I am in a dead-end job and WANT to start my own video editing business. I use Final Cut Pro as my software and am pretty good at it but would like to get more efficient. Any ideas where I might get experience or more education so I can start out on my own and leave my current job? Anyone familiar with this software or have any tips for me?

the best experience is to experiment with the program. I'm very proficient with FCP and I mainly did it through making small videos and playing with everything. The number one thing to do though is to learn all the shortcuts. These will save you a lot of time and headaches (like with scratch disks).

There are also some books you can buy at Borders or Barnes and Noble that will ensure you are able to be Apple Certified at the end of the training book. Also, Apple offers classes at various places that you can take to learn more about FCP and what skill level you're at. If you're Apple certified as well it adds a level of professionalism that people like and will be more likely to enlist your services.

Another exceptionally helpful tool to have is a demo reel. You need to show examples of your editing to potential clients so they can see if you are what they need. You can google a few samples of editing demo reels.
