If it costs less than $50 per week to feed an adult who eats healthy and eats a lot, how much does it cost to feed a baby?
Also how much does it cost per week when the child is say three years old?
If you breastfeed it costs next to nothing to feed a baby. My daughter was exclusively breastfed until she was six months old and I never spent a penny on food for her. There are some other costs involved in breastfeeding, like a pump if you plan to use bottles, and nursing pads, but it's way less than formula feeding. I couldn't tell you how much it costs to formula feed, but I think it must be a lot because I've heard other moms complain about the cost. After my daughter started eating rice cereal, I was spending about $6 a week on that, then about $10 a week on fresh fruits and veggies when she got old enough for mashed foods. She's three now, and I'm guessing our grocery bill has gone up about $20 per week from what it was before she was born. It's hard to say how much of that she's actually consuming now that we're all eating pretty much the same stuff.
