Is Iraq's oil supplies really an American Vital Interest?

Yes, if some nation were to militarily control one of our oil fields or part of our land, then if all else fails, military action would be justified.
If for example, American bound oil shipments were attacked at sea, or even other nation shiping were systematically attacked at sea, military action may well be the final response, rightly. If some nation or group tries to attack our oil suppies at home, then military action would be warented because we like every other peoples in the world have a right to defend our nation and its vital interests in this case. None of these conditions were or are present in Iraq. The idea of naming someone elses resources as a vital interest and then using force to ultimately establish control by military force is an idea that is not different than idea and actions of Manifest Destiny. Manifest Destiny is a rejected justification for blundering. The US is not a criminal interprise! And the US is not a criminal government, but torture is torture!

I think that the US oil blockade of Japan in WWII was a reason to attack America and create the western front in that war...we are engaged in the real Operation Iraq Liberation(OIL) and the liberating that is now being done in the name of democracy is a correographed arming and paying off of local militias that were attacking American soldiers just months ago...It is the liberating of civilian Iraqis from their homes, possessions and thier lives....everyone had better be armed in this liberation since death squads are ruling the countryside...In Bagdad the sloms of refugees are growing when neighborhoods are emptied of their minority populations,,,these are people without any support systems living without aid or any amenities...these are people too poor to even try to escape as refugees to any borders....so forget who we have killed or thrown to the extremes of poverty... The Oil companies are greedily digging in to make a government that will bow to their demands and there is no promise of peace or equality only profits to BP, Exxon-mobile etc...and the last target of US agression was the oil worker's union...and journalists...and do you know that traffic accident yesterday that killed American soldiers killed two soldiers that wrote articles to protest the war...yes war is ugly but the reasons for war are even uglier...
